Fundraising Night For Young Bandsman,
On Saturday evening the 8th December, in the Miners Welfare Club in Lesmahagow there will be a fundraising night in aid of a young bandsman, Cameron Russell,
Cameron who plays with Allanton F.B. was involved in a horrific accident earlier this year, to be exact, two weeks before he and his dad were going to the 12th parade in Belfast, if this wasn’t bad enough, he and his family were due to fly to Florida on holiday for the first time as soon as they came back from Belfast, which obviously had to be cancelled.
As I have said Cameron was involved in a horrific road traffic accident, Cameron’s injuries were so severe that he lost a leg from just below the knee, as well as sustaining severe injuries to his other leg along with serious head injuries, there was a time that doctors thought that young Cameron might not make it as his injuries were so severe, but thank god the young man came through.
Cameron joined the Allanton F.B. as a baby and follows in the foot steps of his father Rusty, who also is a long serving bandsman, and who is very well respected person within the band fraternity.
Anyone who knows Cameron will tell you that he is a dedicated young bandsman, and loves his band. Even though Cameron has suffered horrific injuries he is a determined and adamant young man, so much so he will tell you ‘that he will walk with his band again’ Leg or no leg, this speaks volumes for the young man, and I personally cant wait to see him march down the road with his band once again.
Now that that Cameron is by the worst of his horrific accident, bandsmen from other bands have come together to arrange and hold this fundraising event in aid of the young man,
This fundraising idea is something that has been spoken about by various bandsmen from various bands for some months now, but it was felt that we would wait until young Cameron was back home and on the mend before we organised a date for the event.
If holding this fundraising event can help young Cameron and the family in anyway
We will be delighted, but more importantly, we as bandsmen’s would like to let the young Cameron, his mum Margaret, and dad Rusty, and sister shelly, know that they have friends in the band fraternity who care, and are thinking about them.
As it said at the beginning of this article the event is being held on Saturday the 8th December in the miner’s welfare club in Lesmahagow, from 8.pm to 1.am
Apart from the Disco entertainment, Larkhall Purple Heroes and Black Skull Glasgow will also be entertaining all those who attend the event, we are hoping for many other bandsmen and bands to come and give there support to this fundraising event, everyone will be welcomed. We would like to get as many people as possible to attend the event. And raise as much money as possible for one of our own,
If you or your band would like to support the fundraising night by coming and supporting the event personally, or donate to the fundraising fund, or even put something up for the raffle or auction, all will be graciously received,
