Skins by Hedley

The band would like to thank Hedley for doing a superb job of our new bass drum heads. This is the first time the band has used Hedley to paint our drum heads, and it has to be said he hasn't let us down. The band has used many people through the years to paint the heads for its bass drum, particularly “wills from drum sounds” which the band has used for many years. And his granddad before him. It was discussed at a band meeting about getting new heads from the bass drum for this years parades and it was proposed to give your man Hedley a bash at painting our new bass drum heads,

The design for the new drum heads was put together with a new emblem by the Band Master and sent to Hedley to see what he thought, discussions took place regarding pricing and delivery times ect, First thing discussed by Hedley with the B.M was, “there’s a lot of work in them”and time is money, which was replied with the old saying, “you only get what you pay for, after a lengthy discussion he was given the go ahead to paint the heads, and as you can see he did a great job of them.

As you can see from the pictures the band has two sets of heads painted by Hedley

One set is to go with the bands “presidents own” marine uniform, and the other set are for the new set of Scots guards corps of drum uniform, which the band is currently working for. As you can see there is a new emblem on the heads, i.e. the two skulls at either side of one of the bands badges, this new emblem works well as it depicts the two uniforms that the band wears. The new emblem will also be available on new T/Shirts which the band has ordered.

The band is very impressed by the work Hedley has carried out for them, so much so we are in discussion with him to paint another set of heads with a different design as well as a few other things the band is looking at,
